The Reading Pen Plus (Oxford Dictionary) is an upgraded Reading Pen. As well as being a reading aid this pen also has the functionality to language translate and capture text which can later be uploaded to a computer.

Reading Pen Plus (Oxford Dictionary):
The Reading Pen gives someone the independence to read on their own. Scan over a typed word & instantly hear it aloud with built-in speaker(headphones also included). The portable pen is especially designed for people with reading difficulties such as Dyslexia.
According to the British Dyslexia Association dyslexia is best described as a combination of abilities and difficulties that affect the learning process in one or more of reading, spelling and writing. Accompanying weaknesses may be identified in areas of speed of processing, short term memory, sequencing and organisation, auditory and/or visual perception, spoken language and motor skills. It is particularly related to mastering and using written language, which may include alphabetic, numeric and musical notation.
The Reading Pen features the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, containing over 240,000 words and definitions, hundreds of new words and phrases. The Pen has a British digital voice which can turn any text into speech.
The Reading Pen scans a word or line of text, displays the scanned words in LARGE characters on the LCD screen, pronounces the scanned word(s) & reads the definition out loud.
At the end of the session you can review the words you had difficulty with as the pen stores the last 80 scanned words.
The Memory Extension Kit (MEK)
The 4MB Memory Extension Kit (MEK) inside the pen is a multi-purpose upgrade flash card. The MEK increases the Pen's memory capacity, enabling you to:
- Add various WizCom applications to your existing product.
- Add dictionaries to your product.
ReadingPen users will be able to add additional dictionary databases to their product and/or upgrade the Pen with QuickLink applications (Notes, Address Book, Internet Links, Tables, Scan to PC) in order to scan, store and send data to the PC.
The three basic steps for installing the MEK are:
- Installing the new memory card.
- Upgrading Pen - adding QuicktionaryII or QuickLink functionalities.
- Adding components (e.g., dictionaries or add-on applications).
Please note that with the 4MB MEK will enable you to carry one or two one-directional dictionary databases (one bi-directional dictionary) on your Pen at once. You may, however, acquire as many dictionaries as you like and store them on your computer, so you can easily change the languages on your Pen at any time.
