- Hello!
Does Reading Pen TS support to scan from any material?
Regards
Scott - Hi Scott
Yes, it can recognize any printed material, books, magazines and newspapers. Inside the tip of the Pen is a sophisticated electronic eye. This eye enables you to scan different types of printed information directly into your Pen. Use the Pen to scan full lines of text, receive word-by-word translations and definitions, and hear scanned words pronounced aloud.

- From Derek O'Brien at 20/05/2011 19:17
- Hi
My queries are all about batteries, hope to hear from you soon.
1. What type of battery does Reading Pen TS support?
2. How can I use batteries in a proper manner?
3. Can I still use my pen, if batteries don't work?
Regards
Derek - Hi Derek!
Here are your solutions -
1. The Pen supports AAA Alkaline batteries, 2 (1.5V)
2. Always place 2 fresh batteries in the Pen. It is not advisable to use the Pen with batteries that are not at the same voltage level.
Do not combine different types of batteries (e.g. rechargeable and non-rechargeable).
Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions.
CAUTION: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Use AAA Alkaline batteries only.
3. Yes, you can, in that case your ReadingPen will be charged via USB port of your PC.
Connecting the Pen to the PC using the USB cable automatically activates the power supply from the PC. This has the following implications:
• The Pen uses the external power supply when connected to the PC, so batteries last longer.
• Set Auto Shut-Off Time in Preferences is disabled when the Pen is connected to the PC.
CAUTION: Unsaved information may be lost if the USB cable is disconnected while using without batteries. It is very important that the Pen always contains batteries, even when connected to the PC.
Hope this helps you.

Download the installation package for your Pen. The package contains the software needed to install the USB driver and PenExplorer application onto your PC, as well as links to online user manuals and product registration.
Download Instructions:
1. Copy this link (http://www.wizcomtech.com/galleries/downloads/Downloads/ReadingPenTS/readingpents.exe), paste into your
browser and press enter.
2. A "File Download" window will appear. Select "Run".
3. A security warning will appear. Select "Run".
4. The Installshield Wizard will appear. Follow the instructions to save the product installation software to your computer.
5. Once the software has been saved, the installation window will appear. Go to "PenExplorer Installation" and follow the instructions to install the USB driver and PenExplorer.
Note: Once you have saved the software to your computer, you can re-open the installation window by going to the folder where the software is saved and clicking on "Setup.exe". This installation also installs the USB driver needed for PenPC communications.

- Hi
- From Lisa Bruno at 24/05/2011 15:51
- Hello!
Can you please tell me how do I understand the ReadingPen is in scanning mode?
Lisa - Hi Lisa
The Pen is in scanning mode when the red light at the tip of the Pen is blinking. If you scan text and the results are not accurate, simply scan again and the text on screen will be over-written with the new text.
Scanning mode is disabled when accessing a toolbar menu or when you are not in the ReadingPen application.

- Hello!
- From Joan Knight at 26/05/2011 17:20
- Hi
Is there any scanning restriction while I am using ReadingPen?
Thanks - Hi Joan
Yes, there are some restrictions you have to keep in mind -
The Pen scans and recognizes printed text in a wide range of languages, font types and point sizes (6-22 points, up to 8 mm) and in a variety of colors on contrasting backgrounds (except red on white, white on red, blue on black and black on blue).
It does not recognize handwriting, cursive fonts, mathematical symbols or other profession-specific signs.

- From Gina Liberto at 26/05/2011 17:24
- Hi
Can I customize font, if so, how can I do that?
- Gina - HI Gina
There are two font sizes to choose from – Regular and Enlarged. Changing the font size will mainly affect how text is seen in the File Screen and the Dictionary Screen. Change the font size by selecting or de-selecting the Enlarged Font option in the Settings menu of the application.
Note: The default application setting is Enlarged Font. The Preferences and Information menus are always in enlarged font.

- From David Richardson at 27/05/2011 17:00
- Hi
I need to retrieve my file history, is there any option to do that, how can I do that?
David - Hi David
Yes, you can retrieve your files -
The History.txt file appears in the Notes folder after you have entered the ReadingPen application for the first time. The file cannot be deleted from the folder and is dynamic, it is updated immediately when new words are looked up. Copy the History.txt file to your PC to save the current list of History words. Select the file with the mouse and copy it as you would copy files in standard windows folders.
