Scanning Pens is committed to providing educators with the resources and supporting materials that will enable you to train your team and engage your learners with Scanning Pens Literacy Intervention Strategy effectively.
If you are a Demonstrator School, in addition to our training offer, we can provide one to one support for your CPD program and bespoke training solutions. This will help you to fulfil your training commitments for the DfE Demonstrator School program.
At the present time the CPD training support offer for the Scanning Pens Assistive Technology Course is available to schools in the UK. Attendance of individual sessions is certificated. Schools who engage with us and ensure all three webinars are attended by members of their team will be accredited with the Scanning Pen’s Kite Mark for literacy support.

Scanning Pens understands that you will want to have all the resources you need to support your
broad network of schools to provide advice, guidance and training.
Scanning Pens has a wealth of information and experience to share with you regarding the use and
implementation of the ReaderPen and Exam Reader to support literacy gains for learners with
challenges that include dyslexia, ADHD and weak literacy in your classrooms.
Training from Scanning Pens can support your commitment do deliver high quality training and
What are we offering you?
Our mini training package is delivered through three 45 minute webinars that will provide an
advanced knowledge of ExamReader and ReaderPens our literacy support strategy and our resources.
During the sessions attendees will gain knowledge of how to use and implement this learning
strategy effectively. You will then be able to share our training materials and signpost the
additional resources that are available to all schools to use. We want to enable you to
demonstrate Scanning Pens with confidence.
You can request training for up to four members of your team. We would recommend that your
delegated staff all attended the first session in order to gain the product overview.
The sessions will last no longer than 50 minutes and can be completed over the course of a
month. Additional sessions will be made available but will be allocated on a first come first
served basis. Upon completion we will provide you with a Kite mark for your schools website that
evidences your expertise.
Scanning Pens Education Service will continue to support your training needs and will be happy to
continue developing your knowledge and skills and our partnership. This training package is

Unfortunately, there is little doubt that this prolonged period of distance learning will
increase the reading gap for our most vulnerable learners. Research that was undertaken
by Dr. Tilly Mortimer at Bath Spa University concluded that there is a significant improvement
in reading comprehension by those students who are using assistive technology at home and at
school to support their access to learning resources.
As part of our commitment to all schools, Scanning Pens offer consultations to support students
who have been identified as requiring a reading intervention program. I am looking forward to
sharing our British Dyslexia approved implementation guide and our Literacy passport. As a SENCo
