Marie Wall Examinations Officer
Your school name: Prince Henry’s High School
Describe your school (type, age, location, demographic etc): Academy, Year 9- 13. Circa 1300 students, based in Worcestershire market town with catchment including many surrounding villages.
Did you trial the ExamReader initially, if so, what “review process” did you follow and what conclusions did you draw? We did not trial, we saw the pens at a TEO conference and decided to order a box to implement within exams but now have two boxes for exams and classroom use.
What do you most like about the ExamReader? Easy to use. Able to seat students in main exam rooms and no need for two invigilators in a room with readers now.
Please describe how you are using the ExamReader? Exams and in classrooms
Please describe how the use of the ExamReader has affected your students (performance, confidence, independence etc)? Students were not using human readers in exams. Since using the reading pens all students with a reader arrangement are utilising the pens in exams and classrooms, we have also had additional students request to use the pens.
Please describe any other areas in school you feel the ExamReader has helped (staff time savings, school results, cost savings etc) The pens have helped with reducing the number of invigilators required in a designated readers room. We now put readers into mixed rooms, meaning less organisation is required for exams.
How likely are you to recommend the ExamReader to others? I would definitely recommend reading pens.
