Finding a voice with Assistive Technology

Teachers and students at Halton District School Board in Canada are using the ReaderPen to increase participation in learning. Judy Sackville - AT Lead describes how children with executive functioning difficulties are often withdrawn and let other people speak for them. She describes how the ReaderPen inspires confidence in her learners to share their ideas and speak aloud.

Halton’s students are achieving improved levels of literacy and confidence because the blended approach to using assistive technology has become part of their every day learning strategy. Chrome Books, Laptops, iPads and ReaderPens are all making a big difference and students who had previously been withdrawn are finding their voice.
